Mourinho’s latest remarks come on the back of yet another Gonzalo Higuain hat-trick, his second in as many games. El Pipita scored his first in the 4-0 away win at Espanyol after an enterprising second half performance.
In his last 90 games for Real Madrid, the argentine hitman has scored 67 league goals. However, he has a stiff fight on his hands against French ace, Karim Benzema.
Benzema is the darling of President Florentino Perez, while El Pipita came in during Roman Calderon’s presidency. Mourinho finds himself in a difficult situation but has rejected any notion of disharmony.
He said that with a good pool of players at his disposal, competition for places is normal and should not lead to wild suggestions. Players have to be rotated to keep their fitness levels high, as Real Madrid have a hectic fixture schedule.
"Starter or substitute, this is something inevitable for me with such good players. It's hard to play four, five or six games with the same player,” the Portuguese proclaimed.

The two-time UEFA Champions League winner stated:
"My criteria for choosing players are planned according to the characteristics of the opponent player. They are players with different characteristics.”
Mourinho is happy with the form of his players, and it does not pose problems during team selection. He added that the real problems lie when a manager is short on options, something that he had to contend with last season.
