Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra denies Tottenham Hotspur move
Lassana Diarra, the 26-year-old Real Madrid defensive midfielder, revealed he had not come to an agreement with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur over a transfer. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international denied rumours linking him to Tottenham Hotspur, claiming
he was perfectly happy with the La Liga giants and did not wish to leave any time soon.
The French midfielder has previously played in the English Premier League for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Portsmouth before transferring to Real Madrid in 2009. Despite an impressive season under Jose Mourinho, Diarra was linked with a move away with Tottenham
Hotspur favourites to sign the talented holding midfielder.
However, Diarra confirmed that he was not moving and that rumours were not true. The player had been given permission by the club to visit his brother and spoke to the media at the airport. He had no intention of returning to the Premier League and wished
to continue on with the La Liga side under manager Jose Mourinho.
Diarra said while speaking to reporters:
“The information about my departure is a lie.
There is no agreement with Tottenham and I do not think there will be.”
He continued:
“I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2013 and Jose Mourinho is my coach.”
Diarra signed with Real Madrid in the winter transfer window of 2009 from Portsmouth for a fee of €20 million. Within the first few months of his arrival at the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 club Diarra managed to maintain a place in the starting XI, because of which he earned
a place in UEFA’s 2008-2009 La Liga Breakthrough Team.
In his two-and-a-half years at the club, Diarra has made a total of 90 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing 8 assists. Last season he went on to make 39 appearances under Mourinho in all competitions and contributed with four assists.
He was under constant pressure because of the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325.

claimed he did not want the midfielder and felt he was a first team player.
