Real Madrid suffered an underserved defeat: Jose Mourinho

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that the loss to Osasuna last weekend had put his team into hot water. Real Madrid suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat when Javier Camunas smashed in a second-half goal at Reyno de Navarra stadium, resulting in their second defeat of the season.

The unexpected loss to the team on 17th position means that Madrid are now seven points behind Barcelona who are sitting pretty on top of the table with just one loss. The defeat has dented chances of Madrid winning their first league title since 2008 and Mourinho’s aspirations of leading the club to the title in his first season.

After the game, a dejected Mourinho said he is proud of his team and they did all they could, but in the end it just was not their day. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan boss said his team played better than the result suggests and they did not deserve the loss.

Mourinho said: "My players have done their jobs with dignity and I have nothing to reproach them for, they fought to the end. We lost three points that we didn't deserve to lose.”

"Osasuna are a tough team and the crowd was fantastic. I don't think many teams win here. We had opportunities to score in both halves, but we haven't done it. And if the opponents score first, it becomes very difficult. Congratulations to Osasuna."

Mourinho, who led http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to back to back league titles, said even though it was the season’s second defeat, the competition is so tough that even one lackluster performance can result in losing the league.

The Portuguese said he had always told his teams that losing a game is only natural, but gifting a game is a crime. He added that his team played to the best of their ability, but when it is not your day, nothing works. He appreciated Osasuna and said they gave it their all, and the fact that they had a week to prepare for the game maybe had something to do with it.

Real Madrid’s last away game ended in a 1-1 draw against Almeria, and now after the loss, they do not have much time to ponder over the loss. On Wednesday, Real Madrid take on Sevilla in the semifinal’s second leg of Spanish cup known as Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead from the first leg, and have a golden chance of making it to the final of the Spanish Cup, which they have not won in 17 years.

Mourinho said the loss is forgotten now, and now they are all set to take on Sevilla Wednesday. Mourinho was hired by Real Madrid at the season start, after he completed a historic treble with Inter Milan. After conquering http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 is believed to be his final frontier. Mourinho would have to make sure that if his team lags behind in the Spanish league, he does ensure progress in UEFA Champion’s League in order to avoid his sacking.
