Real Madrid star and Turkish international Nuri Sahin is expected to return to action from his injury in two weeks time. The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has not played for the capital club since his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu earlier in the summer.
Sahin has been unavailable for first team duties as the combative midfielder sustained a knee injury in preseason training. He was supposed to take part in a preseason match against Galatasaray but fell to the niggling injury again.
The young sensation had recently stated that he was unsure of the return date but affirmed that the recovery process was going better than anticipated. He stated that he was a week ahead of the schedule and will return to action soon.
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho has shed more light on the 26-time capped international’s situation. While talking to Spanish sports daily, Marca, Mourinho responded that he will be fit within a fortnight. He added that his situation will be analyzed and
only then will he be selected for first team duties.
"We hope that Sahin will be back with us in two weeks. The international break is taking place now, which is good for his recovery," Mourinho was quoted as saying.
In the wake of his progress and his future with the Spanish giants, Sahin has not been included in the squad for Turkey’s Euro 2012 qualifier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Guus Hiddink refrained from selecting the 10 million Euros signing for the upcoming internationals.
Nevertheless, he could not stop himself from questioning the 23-year-old’s move to the Spanish capital. The experienced Dutch coach was of the view that Sahin should have stayed in Germany to continue his development.
Sahin’s return will be welcomed by the Madridista, who want to watch the new recruit in action. His return will coincide with the return of Angel di Maria, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 is also set to return after the international break.
This is welcome news for Jose Mourinho who has lost many of his first team regulars to various injuries. In their absence, Jose Callejon, Raphael Varane and Gonzalo Higuain have enjoyed good runs, and fight for places will now commence.
