The financial publication revealed the most valuable clubs in the world which saw Manchester United continue to dominate the listing with Real Madrid in close proximity.
Reliable financial publication, Forbes, released the latest list of 50 most valuable clubs in world sport. The Top three positions saw two European football clubs hoard the positions, but the rankings were dominated by NFL clubs with 32 entries.
English Premier League runners up, Manchester United, lead the ranks of the 50 most valuable clubs in the world with a figure of 2.23 billion Dollars.
The valuations of Red Devils is 19 percent more than Real Madrid, who took the second place with a net worth of 1.88 billion Dollars, while Major League Baseball franchise, New York Yankees, were valued at 1.85 billion Dollars.
Manchester United let the English Premier League title slip from their clutches at the last minute but had a tight grip in the rankings. The English club owned by the Glazer family claimed top spot in the listing after seeing a hike in their valuation from
1.86 billion Dollars last year to a figure of 2.23 Billion this year.
As Real Madrid secured the second spot, arch-rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 sitting comfortably in 10th
place.
European football clubs featured heavily in the top-10 but it was the National Football League that had the most entries and put other sporting outfits to shame.
NFL franchises rule the money matters on the whole with 32 of them finding a place in the rankings. They find themselves in the ranking thanks to greater valuation after the higher revenue from television deals and a lower cap on player wages.
It should be noted that only two National Basketball Association teams, the New York Knicks (43) and Los Angeles Lakers (35) find their way in the publication. The Los Angeles based outfit moved up four places thanks to their improved television deal with
Time Warner Cable.
In addition, Formula 1 team, Ferrari, consolidated its place in the most valuable sporting teams with a 3 percent registered growth over the previous year. Ferrari had to thank their latest sponsorship with Banco Santander for their valuation.
