Real Madrid transfer rumours, Real Madrid transfer news
New manager José Mourinho is on the hunt for new players after another difficult season for Real Madrid.
After a huge spending spree by the Galacticos last summer, with the purchases of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Xabi Alonso and Kaká, there were massive expectations for Madrid to perform well.
However, they finished runners-up to Barcelona in La Liga once again; were knocked out of the Copa del Rey in the early stages; and were defeated by Olympique Lyonnais in the second phase of the Champions League. Their exit from the Champions League was a bitter disappointment, as the 2010 final was at the Bernabéu. Incidentally it was the fifth season in a row they had been knocked out at the second phase stage.
One player who Mourniho has bought in already is Argentina winger Angel di María, costing around £21million.
The latest news surrounds Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. It is believed Madrid are set to offer a £20m take it or leave it offer for the England man, but the offer is unlikely to be accepted.
Inter Milan right-back Maicon wants to follow Mourinho to the Bernabéu, but Inter are desperately trying to keep hold of the 30-year-old Brazilian.
Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, with Madrid looking to pounce to sign the England international.
Manchester City have told Real that Argentinian Carlos Tévez is not for sale, while Bolton remain prime candidates to land Madrid duo Marcos Alonso and Rodrigo Moreno.
