Real Madrid v Tottenham Hotspur – Second half review: UEFA Champions League-Part 2
Following Emmanuel Adebayor’s second goal of the night for Real Madrid, Tottenham completely submitted to the home side’s pressure tactics. Real Madrid gained confidence and pushed onwards to cement their place in the match as the superior side. Tottenham’s
half-time change to bring on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jermain-Defoe-c18359 in place of Rafael Van der Vaart had little effect on the match as the Englishman failed to get involved in the proceedings.
On the other hand as the match went on, Tottenham’s players became tired as well. This fatigue resulted in more spaces in behind the Hotspurs’ defence. In the 60th minute, Jose Mourinho opted to bring off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 as the German midfielder
was replaced by Lassana Diarra. In the 66th minute, Adebayor almost completed his hat-trick with his third headed goal of the night, but Heurelho Gomes’ heroics denied the former Arsenal player as he palmed away Adebayor’s header near the far post
inside Tottenham’s penalty area.
However, it was not long before Real Madrid added to their two goal advantage as Angel Di Maria netted his first goal of the match in the 72nd minute. The Argentinean forward went past Benoit Assou-Ekotto with ease before firing his shot into
the far corner of Tottenham’s net. It was a decisive finish by the former Benfica player as the score line at Santiago Bernabéu reached 3-0 in favour of the home side.
After Di Maria’s goal, Real Madrid made their final two substitutions of the night as Ricardo Kaka replaced Angel Di Maria, whereas Gonzalo Higuain was brought on in place of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526. Harry Redknapp responded with a change of his own albeit, a
forced one as Sebastian Bassong replaced an injured http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vedran-Corluka-c35947.
In the 80th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 tried to get in on the goal-scoring action but the Spanish international was off the mark with his wild shot, which was taken from outside the Tottenham penalty area. Nonetheless, right before the referee blew
his full-time whistle, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 netted Real Madrid’s fourth goal of the match after gathering in a superbly timed pass from Kaka. The former Manchester United player was helped by Gomes’s woeful handling but his celebrations reflected Real’s dominant
nature on the night.
Eventually, the match came to a conclusion with the score line at 4-0. Two of Real Madrid’s goals were scored by Adebayor whilst, Ronaldo and Di Maria added one each. The first goal came at the start of the first half, whereas the rest came in the second
half.
