Real Madrid vs. Levante – Spanish La Liga Review (Part 1)
The Spanish Giants Real Madrid managed to close down the gap with the league leaders Barcelona after they won their weekend fixture against Levante. Levante definitely tried to resist Real Madrid’s attacking line-up but Jose Mourinho was confident
and after winning the game 2-0, he kept his unbelievable home streak alive.
The Los Blancos were to face an easy Levante side and they were totally dominant throughout the game as Barcelona have to win their weekend clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Athletic-Club-c38535 on Sunday. The league leaders Barcelona are currently performing poorly – especially
with their captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 out. First the Spanish Champions suffered a draw in Gijon and then they suffered an away defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Real Madrid managed to gain all three points to put pressure on Barcelona before their weekend fixture. It was the Frenchman Karim Benzema who opened up the scoring for Real Madrid and later the Portuguese centre back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Carvalho-c30973 scored the second
goal to give Jose Mourinho’s side a comfortable 2-0 home victory. Both the goals were scored in the first half but Real Madrid kept on creating their chances throughout the second half but were met by a very resistant Levante defensive line.
Real Madrid simply took over as the game kicked off in the Santiago Bernabeu. The Los Blancos took advantage of the home ground and the home crowd and with only minutes gone in the first half, they took the lead. It was during the seventh minute when
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 scored the first goal of the game. The Argentinean youngster Angel Di Maria was the one who brought the ball close to the goal after some brilliant individual skills inside the 18 yard box. After getting past three Levante defenders, the Argentinean
simply gave a defence splitting pass towards Karim Benzema who simply couldn’t miss from such a close range. The Frenchman didn’t even have the goalkeeper in front of him as he fired the shot and found the back of the net with only seven minutes gone in the
referee J. Vitienes’ watch.
The visitors on the other hand were looking to be very weak. During the Copa del Rey fixture, Real Madrid won the home game 8-0. Of course, Levante were scared of such a deadly score line and that is the reason why they played five defenders. The visiting
side were trying to get into the game as they were relying too much over counter attacks. However, Real Madrid were too confident on the ball and created a lot of chances to pressurize the opponents’ back line.
After the first goal, Levante were barely found touching the ball. Real Madrid were simply all over the pitch and it looked as if the visitors were playing with a man down – they were simply left chasing shadows. It was the highest scorer or Real Madrid,
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 who found the ball at his feet after an amazing through ball from Angel Di Maria. The Portuguese captain tried to lob the ball over the goalkeeper Gustavo Munua but even though the Levante goalkeeper was caught off his line, he still managed
to save the day for his side.
