Real Madrid vs. Sevilla – Spanish La Liga – First Half Report (Part 1)
The Los Blancos were to face the “out-of-form” Sevilla side. Real Madrid did not lose a single game throughout the season until they faced their arch nemesis, the Blaugrana Giants Barcelona. The Madrid side suffered a humiliating five-goal defeat against
Josep Guardiola’s men and that was exactly why Real Madrid looked to be a little out of touch. However, they did not lose or draw a single game after the El Classico fixture.
On the other hand, Sevilla were out of form since they lost their UEFA Champions League spot. They were to compete against the Portuguese Champions Braga but they could not really come on top to reach the group stages of the European tournament.
With Barcelona winning their weekend fixture against their local city rivals Espanyol it meant that there was no chance for Real Madrid to get the feel of being at the top of the table. Even with Real Madrid winning the game Sevilla, they would only manage
to slide up to the second spot with only two points behind the Spanish Champions, Barcelona.
Last season, Sevilla were the side who managed to turn the tides for Real Madrid’s title race as they defeated the Los Blancos at their home ground, Santiago Bernabeu. However, this time around, Real Madrid were totally different, especially with the likes
of their new manager Jose Mourinho and the newly signed men, Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325.
The home team, Real Madrid were playing their favourite 4-2-1-3 to ensure that they find the net. With http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 who were playing as centre
backs to complete a total Portuguese central defence. On the left flank it was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Arbeloa-c5282 as the Brazilian full back Marcelo could not really impress the Portuguese coach during the last few games. After missing out on two games, the Spanish full back
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 was back in the first team and played on the right flank.
There were a few changes in the midfield. The Spanish holding midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 was missing out the first team action as Lassana Diarra took his place in the midfield. Sami Khedira was back in the first team to join Lassana Diarra right behind the German
international, Mesut Ozil.
The Portuguese captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 featured in his favourite left wing position but he was given authority to float around up front. The Argentinean striker Angel Di Maria featured on the right. With Gonzalo Higuain out of action due to ankle injury,
it was the French striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 who took his position up front as a “sole striker.”
