Real Madrid vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Harry Redknapp looking forward to the UEFA Champions League clash
Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp has gone on to admit that it was like a dream to see his side get paired up with Spanish giants Real Madrid. The two teams are set to face off against each other in the quarter-final stage of the UEFA Champions League
following the draws that took place on Friday afternoon. Following the draw, Tottenham will take on Madrid at the Bernabeu, on April 5, after which they will host the Madrid side at the White Hart Lane on the April 13, 2011.
Madrid are being hailed as the favourites to win the tie, however, that's the last thing on Redknapp's mind as the manager just can't get over the fact that his side are playing the Los Blancos in the UEFA Champions League. It's a dream-come-true scenario
for the Englishman and he couldn't hide his vivacity while speaking to the reporters.
A much enthused Redknapp said, “You want to play in these games. You want to manage in these games and the fans want to go and see these games. It couldn't be better. What a game to look forward to against one of the greatest clubs in world football.”
The manager went on to say, “To play Real Madrid at this stage of the Champions League is fantastic for us and we're all looking forward to it.”
Redknapp did admit that the game was not going to be an easy one, but insisted that this upcoming fixture was going to be one great addition to the history of the club.
“It's going to be a difficult game, obviously. They are a great side. But you have to look forward to games like this. These are the great days in your life and great days in Tottenham's history,” concluded the Englishman.
This match between Madrid and Spurs is shaping up to be one of the better games to look out for in the tournament. Both sides play some of the best football, have tremendous pace to their game and have a handful of players who can win the game in the blink
of an eye. For these very reasons, perhaps it is only right to agree with Redknapp.
However, whether the game plays out like a dream for the Spurs manager can only be decided after the encounter, and Redknapp will be hoping his dream doesn't turn into a nightmare.
