Real Madrid’s Brazilian midfielder Kaka feared knee injury would end his career
Real Madrid and Brazilian playmaker Kaka returned to action in his side’s 3-2 victory over Getafe. He made his first appearance for the Los Blancos this season after coming on as a substitute in the 2nd half.
Kaka was signed for 65 million Euros from AC Milan in 2009. The former FIFA World Player of the Year failed to make a major impact in his 1st season for Real Madrid as he kept on struggling with injuries.
Kaka underwent a surgery on his troubled left knee last August. He told the club website that he was afraid he would not make a comeback to football: "At times, I was afraid when I thought about when I was going to come back or
if I would”. He also stated that he needed to work hard to regain his spot in the side considering the great form of Real Madrid this season. Kaka also said that his injury days were some of the darkest in an illustrious career but he was given a lot of support
by the management and Jose Mourinho.
“I've had some tough times and the things I've missed the most are the team get-togethers, training with my team-mates, being with them in the dressing room, playing before our supporters. I lacked the joy I get from playing. I'm
available now and I will do my best to play with joy again. A player feels very much alone when he is seriously injured and you go through it alone despite the help you get from others."
Real Madrid are 2 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in the league and have easily qualified for the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League without the services of Kaka. The 2007 Ballon d’Or winner said he was ready to
play anywhere the manager wants him and also realized that he would have to show his worth to make the starting 11 on merit.
"It won't be a problem if I have to play closer to the goal. We'll have to wait and see how the coach builds the team. I have to earn a spot. The team is playing very well and competition is always very positive. The match against
Getafe was hard, but what mattered in the end was winning," he said.
If Kaka can conjure up the form he showed at Italian giants AC Milan then Madrid is certain to go a long way in all competitions. The Real Madrid fans will be hoping that Kaka can deliver trophies to the Santiago Bernabeu.
