Los Blancos youth academy graduate shared that he wants more competitive playing and is eyeing a place with Castilla as it can ensure him continuity.
Spanish U-19 team managed to emulate the heroics of the senior team as they won the European Championship in their age category. Jese Rodriguez stole the limelight with his five goals to claim the golden shoe.
The 19-year-old versatile attacker has been tipped for a bright future at the Santiago Bernabeu but has failed to notch more than a handful games against his name.
Understanding the rigours of football in Los Blancos dressing room, the quarry product wants to prove himself with Castilla before making the jump up.
Rodriguez shared that at his stage of footballing development he needs regular minutes on the pitch more than scoring, and Castilla is where he can make the most of opportunities that have come his way.
The aspiring attacker stated that he will be happy to help out the first team whenever they would require his services, but feels uncomfortable being consigned to the bench.
"It's always important to score goals, but the truth is that I care most about playing matches and I'm really happy that the coach let me play," Jese said while in conversation with Madrid based Spanish sports daily, AS.
"However, my first priority is Castilla. Then, if the coach thinks I can help out the team, that'll be perfect. It's everyone's dream to be able to play for Real Madrid's first team.”
When quizzed about how he felt playing with the first team against LA Galaxy, the Jese Rodriguez remarked that it is always good to partner the glittering stars on the footballing pitch and this occasion was no different.
"I felt really good out on the pitch because we have a squad full of brilliant players. They are among the best in the world and playing with them is very easy."
Jose Callejon echoed the sentiments of his younger teammate, however, aiming for more first team minutes than those that he accumulated on his return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I just want to play," he was quoted as saying on Real Madrid’s official website. "I hope to do better than last year and score more goals. I hope to achieve that aim.”
