Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho pleased with Champions League win against Ajax – La Liga News
Real Madrid boss, Jose Mourinho, expressed his joy and satisfaction at the way Real Madrid have performed so far in the season, particularly in the last few games.
The Portuguese mentor was elated with the team’s performance in their mid-week Champions League clash against Ajax.
Los Blancos visited the Dutch capital last night to face Ajax in the last round of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The Spanish Giants eased their way past Ajax after a 3-0 victory. The win helped Madrid clear the group stage with a perfect record,
winning all the games in the tournament so far.
Youngster Jose Callejon and Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain were the two scorers for Madrid.
Callejon scored the opener in the 14th minute of the match after a great assist from veteran midfield maestro, Kaka. Later, Gonzalo Higuain doubled Real’s lead over the hosts. Callejon completed his brace in stoppage time, after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 provided
him with an inch-perfect long ball.
Jose Mourinho was elated with the way his team was able to see the home side off in Wednesday’s fixture.
As quoted by the club's official website, the 48-year-old said:
"I'm very happy with my players. They didn't kid around. They wanted to win and gave a serious performance."
"It is the first time Real Madrid have won their six games in the group stage. We've only lost one clash in 18, and that defeat happened under strange circumstances (at Levante on September 18). We're top seeders and await the draw, after which we'll be
able to forget about the Champions League for a couple of months," he added.
This was Los Blancos’ 15th consecutive win in all competitions, a feat rarely achieved by teams in the modern game.
With Saturday’s El Clasico just around the corner, the win against Ajax will certainly add up to the magnificent run that Los Blancos have enjoyed in the season so far.
However, Mourinho admits that facing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 will still be a great challenge and that his time can never be too confident against them.
"If memory serves me well, last season we lost to Barcelona after facing Ajax. You never know in football; there are always surprises, but right now we feel more confident and tighter. We are a better team than last season."
