Real Madrid centre-back, Pepe, has insisted that the second goal against Real Sociedad should be credited to his team mate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622, and not to him. The match was played during the early parts of the season, September 18, 2010.
The defender confirmed that Ronaldo’s second free kick took a deflection off his shoulder before ending in the back of the net. That goal proved to be decisive in the final outcome of the game. Madrid got into the lead in the 51st minute through
Angel Di Maria which was later cancelled out by striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Tamudo on the 62nd minute mark. The former Manchester United man, Ronaldo, stepped up for a free kick in the 74th minute which earned Madrid a slender 2-1 win and the goal was
credited to Pepe, courtesy a deflection.
Now the defender has woken up to speak in favour of his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 team mate and believes that the credit should go to Ronaldo, whose rocket shoot did not even allow him time to get out of the way.
The 28-year-old further added, "Regardless of what the official match report says, the goal belongs to Cristiano. The ball hit me and then went in, but the credit should go to the player who took the free kick.  When we are talking about that goal, I absolutely
do not have a problem in awarding it to him. The ball went in and he deserves the credit for it."
Ronaldo got his name written into the history books after scoring a brace against Villarreal in Madrid’s last game. He equalled the record set up by Telmo Zarra and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 Sanchez of scoring most number of goals during a single La Liga season.
Pepe, though, urged the officials to credit that goal to Ronaldo, which would make him the highest goal scorer in a single La Liga season.
La Liga title has already been decided in favour of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884 at the Bernabeu.
