Real Mums and Pregnant Ladies - What else do we need? Are we on track?

Hi ladies!

Okay so we're 27 weeks pregnant and we've got a mothercraft nurse's list of things to get. We've got quite a few things on it but I wonder how much is necessary and what isn't on the list...

We've got the stroller on order

baby bjorn carrier

Dresser with nappy change mat and area on the top

Cot's coming

Nappy bin (that tommy tippee one that wraps them)

breast pump

newborn nappies

clothes (I could go on about the clothes but wont!)

muslin wraps

terry towelling cloths

a few toys

We've got some other bits and pieces but I can't think of them right now..

We haven't got any dummies or bottles or anything like that at this stage...

Do you think we're on track?

What have I forgotten?

Any suggestions, ideas, links, anything you can think of will be appreciated.

Thanks!!

PS They say that sterilising is out of fashion now. What do you think?

  1. Hi,

Sounds like your pretty much on track :) I would get some bottles though for when you want to express.  I would say deff steralise everything though because that's a must for your baby :)

What about a car seat? That's if you have a car.

To start with as long as you have somewhere for baby to sleep, food, a pram for baby and clothes and bibs your good to go :)

    Congratulations x

    I

  2. Wow you guys sound pretty prepared! Congratulations on your impending parenthood :) I think at least to begin with sterilising is important.

Did you have a bath?  It would probably be a good idea to get the dummies and bottles soon and different teats for your bottles come in handy too (Juice, milk and age varied ones)

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and then your new baby :)

  3. I can only think of-

A little first aid kit: Calpol (a newborn can't take this but keep it 'in stock' for when you need it), medicine spoon/dropper, thermometer, nasal aspirator, bandages etc.

baby toiletries: nappy rash cream, baby bath/shampoo, powder, baby oil, wipes, nail scissors, a soft hair brush.

  4. Firstly you will NEVER use the baby bjorn carrier, trust me i had one with both my kids (gifts) and they are still in the boxes!!

You just need to get a steriliser, avent ones come with bottles, and a bottle warmer, life saver at 3am!!!

Nappies, but only one bag of newborn cos you dont know how big the baby is or how fast he/she will gain weight, also sleep with a blanket that you plan on putting  in the cot/moses basket for a few weeks then it will smell of you and be a comfort to your baby, and i found a made to measure black out blind absolutely invaluable!!! Darkness whenever you want it!!!

I had a winnie the pooh thing that fits onto the cot and is sound activated, so when she cried it went off playing nice music and like a light show on the ceiling-great!

Good luck with your new arrival and congratulations!!!
