Major League Soccer franchise, Real Salt Lake (RSL), hosted Primera Division de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Monterrey-c39943, at Rio Tinto Stadium in the second-leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Final. However, the first half did not go as well as RSL would have liked.
The visitors, although lacked in the midfield, they created some good chances in opposition’s box and Chilean forward http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Humberto-Suazo-c16447 netted the ball in the first half injury time.
Although Real had some good chances created in the middle of the first 45, they certainly lacked in the offensive third. Fabian Espindola and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Saborío-c5302 were both neat near the half line but when the ball entered Monterrey’s box, the opposition defence
was enough to negate any tries. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Orozco-c19048 was never tested in the first 45 minutes.
The home team enjoyed the possession in the starting 30 minutes but then the away team got the hang of it and tested http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nick-Rimando-c27720 three times in their run of play and in the last try managed to score the first goal of the game.
RSL made a breakthrough in Monterrey’s box first in 32nd minute when Espindola and Saborio made a one-to-one combination at the top of the box however, Los Rayados' defence intercepted the ball and cleared to the sideline.
A couple of minutes later, a mistaken pass from Sergio Pérez got the Argentinean a chance to surge into their box. However, Espindola’s shot went wide of the post, not troubling the keeper at all.
The Monterrey’s first firm chance got sandwiched in Real’s attempts. A decent cross from the left wing was met by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Santana-c33104, however, the ball flew away from the post, not disturbing anybody in the box.
Santana was quick in RSL’s half and was a part of Suazo’s tally in the injury time.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Walter-Ayoví-c36587 had the chance in 43rd minute of the game when he received a cross from left that landed right at his foot. The player however, did the same as his fellow members and fired the ball over the top of the poles.
In a quick succession, Suazo made a run towards Rimando, however, even his try wasn't any better than his teammates.
The away team did manage to make a breakthrough in injury time as Monterrey's star forward, Suazo, scored his first goal of the game. Santana and Suazo were in the box and in a one-to-one combination, dodged RSL’s defence and the keeper. Suazo received the
ball at the left pole and guided it into the net to make it 1—0 in Monterrey’s favour.
