Real Sociedad vs. Atletico Madrid, full time report (Part 2)
After the second goal, the game changed totally as the Madrid side was dominating the game and after only 2 minutes, Diego Forlan managed to pass the ball on to Aguero, who made no mistake in planting the ball into the net again.
Making the score line quite remarkable for his side as they were now leading the game with two goals and there was definitely no way for Sociedad to come back.
However, Diego Rivas was not done yet and after only four minutes, the Spanish midfielder made a move forward to put one back for his side as the score line became 2-3, which brought more intensity to the crowd, who were planning to leave the stadium.
Sociedad had a chance as they won a corner during the dying moments of the game and they had the perfect opportunity to equalise but they couldn’t capitalize.
But during the last minute of the game Reyes made a run forward and the Sociedad defender Mikel Gonzales brought him down in the penalty area and the referee pointed to the spot.
The Portuguese winger Simao was the one to take the penalty and he made no mistake in putting it past the Real Sociedad goalkeeper to help his team lead the game 4-2 in an action packed game.
Both the teams had their chances on goal and even though Real Sociedad looked to be leading the game in the first half, the Madrid side totally changed things round in the second half with the help of Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero. They scored three goals
together and even though the home side had the opportunity to make a comeback towards the end of the game it was simply too little too late.
However, it was simply foolish of Mikel to bring Reyes down during the last minute of the game and Simao made no mistake as he scored the fourth goal for his side.
There were many bookings in the game, which totaled to five, as the referee did not give out a single red card and decided to be lenient on the players, who were being too physical as there were many turn of events throughout the game.
Markel Bergara, Ion Ansotegui, Mario Suarez, Mikel Aranburu and Tomas Ujfalusi all found their names in the referee’s books as they all found themselves being in trouble because of their rough tackles.
The match was full of action and even though the Madrid side were the favourites to win no one really thought that they were going to win it with a remarkable comeback. After an outstanding performance by Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan, Atletico Madrid managed
to take the three points away from Real Sociedad and are now placed in the middle of the Spanish La Liga table.
