The Aragonese manager admitted to thinking about leaving his managerial position at La Romareda, as Los Manos continue to struggle in La Liga points rankings.
There seems to be no end to Real Zaragoza’s struggles in 2011/12 La Liga campaign, with Coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manolo-c23349 Jimenez coming out in the open and admitting the dismal fate awaiting the club. Los Manos are 12 points adrift of safety and after 24 matches they are rock-bottom
in Primera Division’s league rankings.
With no chances of any good news on the horizon, Jimenez openly accepted with a heavy heart that Real Zaragoza will find it hard to stave off relegation in the current footballing season.
The 48-year-old tactician criticised the Zaragoza institution for the sorry state of affairs at the club and reflected that he is ashamed of the club’s matters.
“I feel ashamed of many things and I feel it for everybody,” said the 48-year-old. “But this club has lost its way. Every one of us reaps what we sow and Zaragoza has spent a long time living on a knife edge.”
“It is bad institutionally but the club is everything and it matters to me that the management do one thing or the other.”
A saddened Jimenez also took out time to talk about the embarrassing 5-1 away defeat against Malaga at La Rosaleda and apologised to the fans for the result.
“It does not worry me I am speaking out alone,” he continued. “I am not more professional or more ‘Zaragocista’ than anybody because of this. But I am not happy and felt and still feel shame.”
The former Sevilla and AEK Athens coach admitted to thoughts of resigning from his position, but then he decided to stay as leaving the club in such a situation would be an act of cowardice on his part. Jimenez added that he will give his best in the club’s
remaining fixtures, and said that he owes this to his professional pride and the fans.
Ahead of their home fixture against Villarreal, Jimenez has a meeting lined-up with Zaragoza president, Agapito Iglesias. The head coach revealed that he has immense respect for the President and will listen to what he has to say, with an open heart.
