Real connoisseur wants India and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Manohar-Gavaskar-c91863
The former Indian batsman, Sunil Gavaskar has urged that an India-Pakistan bilateral series, whenever it is held, should be a complete series, comprising Tests, ODIs and T20 internationals.
Speaking to media reporters on Tuesday, the batting veteran said that the experts are eager to see the arch-rivals playing a full-fledged Test series, urging that it should be a proper series featuring an ample amount of one-day games as well.
"Frankly, if you want to have a India-Pakistan series it can't be one Test,” said the cricketer turned commentator while speaking to the media on Tuesday. “It has to be a proper three Test, five one-day and two to three Twenty20. But I think the real connoisseur
of the game wants India and Pakistan to play Tests," he added further.
Having succumbed to back to back Test series whitewash away from home, India, a former world number one Test side, is perhaps at an all time low point. Their recent 4-0 Test series humiliation Down Under preceded a whitewash at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in August
last year with same score-line.
Pakistan, on the other hand, have been splendid in all three forms of the game, especially Test cricket. They recently inflicted a 3-0 Test series whitewash over the number one Test side England. Whilst India has fell to successive Test series whitewash
in six months, Pakistan has not lost a series in the past year and a half.
Gavaskar also urged the International Cricket Council to intervene in the matter and organise a much awaited India-Pakistan series as soon as possible. India’s busy schedule is the biggest hurdle in the imminent resumption of a mouth-watering series between
the nemesis but he added that the busy schedule of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 does not allow a bilateral series even in 2014.
"I think if the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 can convince other scheduled tours around India and Pakistan to be delayed then maybe it can create a window but honestly… it looks difficult even in 2014," reckoned the former India skipper.
Cricketing ties between the arch-rivals have been on hold since the 2008 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks and despite a number of serious attempts made by the PCB Chairman in the last three months to resume cricketing relations, it is still at an impasse.
