We have these plants that look like four leaf clovers, but mostly have 3 but some pieces have 4.

What is the name of this plant, scientific name if possible. And is this the real four leaf clover plant?

  1. Looks like a shamrock plant.  Scientific name OXALIS

you can buy them around St Patricks day. Some with 3 and some with 4 leaf.

  2. If you had a link to a picture of the plant that would be very helpful.

  3. Could be a clover, Genus Trifolium.  More likely it is a cultivar of Oxalis.  There is a cultivar called "Iron Cross" that gets commonly sold as Shamrocks.

The Oxalis has bell shaped flowers, usually kind of pink.

A "real" four-leaf clover is a clover plant with 4 lobes. Genus Trifolium.  I've seen them, used to have one.  Not so common.

  4. it's clover - you also have clover with 3 leafs . In Europe we use it to feed livestock (cows , rabbits, goats and sheep). It grows wild and it has purple and white blossoms .

  5. Oxalis corniculata, commonly known as creeping wood sorrel. Everything you always wanted to know about the four leaf clover. It's a weed and it is everywhere.
