i am just older now and more laid back so I wanted a bike that fit my laid back life. When I was young and ready to fight a war all by myself I thought nothing could hurt me I like sport bikes But we grow up

I want to continue touring and the cramped leg position of a full on sport bike would not be very good for that.  So I bought a Honda VFR sport touring bike.  The most powerful, best handling, sweetest ride of my 14 bikes, and it sports very nice factory hardbags.

Because I enjoy riding a  motorcycle. I do not need to fill my days seeing if everyone will think I look like a racing star. To me they are as useless as a pocket rocket. I have been on to many rides that were spoiled by some kid on a sport bike  that was going to show me and ended  up on the side of the road showing  us all how not to land. I have raced and went faster than a great many on this site. I do not need speed and like to ride and  have fun.

because to realize the benefits of great gas mileage, i need to ride a lot.  and sportbikes are NOT the most comfortable for long distance or long time riding.

I did buy one, ripped the motor out built a chopper and sold or gave away all the stock junk

I still ride one but mainly on the track. I really don't care about going 180 on the road anymore so I ride a touring bike most of the time now.

Well, they have no class for starters.  They all look like melted chewing gum and sound like Weedeaters!  Or maybe a decorated 2-liter pop bottle.

i thought about getting a bike cuz of gas. but then i found myself looking for the fastest one and realized that i would probably end up killing myself.

I don't have a reason. I did buy one. Actually, two. BMW K1200S and Honda RC51. I have a Goldwing on order though.

Because i have no desire to go that fast on a bike.I know how i am,if i had a bike that would go 170 mph i would have to give it a go.I don't care for that style of bike either.

Because I already had 3 sportbikes in the stable.  Another only would make me wonder which one to ride.  

I got a tourer, big twin.  I prefer the twin sound, and handling characteristics are fairly good for what it is.  Plenty of luggage space for the weekend, and a very comfortable ride.  The looks are semi custom right from the factory, and the wife loves it almost as much as I do.

Had it 3 months now, rolling at 4000 miles already.  Great machine for the daily commute, and very easy to live with.  Currently, the tires look brand new, and from reading, seems 12-16K out of the stock rubber is fairly common.  4K out of my sportsbike rears is above average, usually end up needing new ones in 3000 miles.

Gas mileage is right at 47 mpg, and the insurance for a year is 1/5 of the sport bikes.  So it is by far and away my most economical means of transportation.

Fun, Cheap, Fuel efficient, and it still draws me to it.  It's perfect for what I need right now...

Because I prefer a cruiser style.....more specifically, a touring model where I can carry items (including my wife) on long trips.
