  1. A mixture of things are needed but we have to start tackling the problem urgently.

    * Using energy much more efficiently - cleaner cars for instance

    * Using less - fewer car journeys, for instance

    * Using local produce - cutting food miles

    * Cutting down on inefficient livestock farming and eating more vegetables.

    * Renewable energy such as wind, wave, maybe nuclear

    * Preserve and replace the rain forests

    * Using biochar to fix carbon in terra preta soils

    * Carbon sequestration like the Australian scheme

    * Aim for a lower population

  2. The obvious thing would be to stop adding human beings.

  3. . Immediately set a time limit on speeches by the Second Vice- chairman to less than five minutes so that there is a check on the emission of hot air.

    2. Stop breathing. Every breath you take consumes precious atmospheric oxygen and gives off harmful carbon dioxide. Remember every molecule counts!

    3. Organise tantric rituals and make animal sacrifices at select shrines across the subcontinent to appease the gods.

    4. Cut flatulence in cattle and livestock. There are an estimated 22 million cows and 17 million goats in Nepal and if all of them felt free to pass wind without let or hindrance imagine the kind of accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere we’d be left with. We’re not even counting yaks and water buffaloes here and we all know how embarrassing those two can be in polite company.

    5. Organise maha yagya in Tundikhel for harmony in the universe and burn 15 tons of rice seeds and feed 108 brahmins.

    6. Immediately scrap the community forestry program.

    7. Create artificial shortage of LPG but I notice the government has already thought of that this winter.

    8. Soda contains carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, so avoid it. Henceforth, take your double whiskey neat.

    9. Burping releases greenhouse gases so burp in moderation.

    10. Ask Pashupatinath one last time to protect us all.

  4. Nuclear power isnt green at all. imagine after 16 years that piece of land can not be touched. there are many other things you can do. cut down waste and comspution. thx for wanting to help.

  5. Millions of folks making small changes can make a big difference.  As a consumer you have great power.

A few things you can do.

Turn DOWN the heating thermostat a few degrees.

Turn UP the Air Con a few degrees.

Install a hot water temperature control panel

    Have a shorter shower.

    Walk more and drive less.

If you have to drive, do it with fuel economy in mind.

    Recycle everything.

Grow your own vegies if possible.

Don't buy stuff you don't need.

Replace standard light blulbs with compact fluros.

    Only purchase plantation timber furniture.

    Plant some trees.

Turn off appliances at the switch.

there are a thousand other little things you can do.  Thanks for trying. :)

  6. No way will kyoto be effective. if the US approves it and joins we are all screwed. our economy will crash because of all the money we will have to spend to comply with all the nonsense in it. and that will be the end of the US as we know it.

Global warming is not caused by humans so there is nothing we can do about it.

  7. Because Kyoto is based on concensus, it isn't as conservative approach as it could be, but yes, if paticipatory nations comply if will be very effective, as far as it goes.

We as a public need to inform ourselves and modify our lifestyles.  The cars we drive, how much, how far.  Whether we purchase locally.  Basically, whether we care enough to strive to reduce our individual and collective ecological footprint.

A few sites you might want to investigate.  There's a wealth of information out there, solid, reputable sources are not difficult to find.  The ones I've provided are university programs.  I get some measure of comfort knowing that some of our best and brightest are at school, at work on solutions.

  8. AGW has yet to be proven and Kyoto has done nothing but transfer money-it will never be effective at anything other than that.

  9. Too bad its all a sham to suck money from your wallet.

  10. Uhhhh, decrease the sun's heat?

Hmmm, I guess there is no sustainable way to counter global warming.

  11. Stop burning so many things needlessly!
