Reality Check for Washington Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III: DeAngelo Hall thinks the QB is the worst
A day after the reports came out that Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3), who was selected as the second overall pick in this year’s draft, had been well received at training camp, a surprising remark came from defensive back
DeAngelo Hall, who thinks that RG3 is the worst quarterback in the entire National Football Conference (NFC) East.
According to the Washington Post, Hall thinks that the rookie is yet to prove his talent as he has not taken any snap so far. He said of RG3:
"He's probably right now, the worst quarterback in our division. He hasn't taken a snap. He has that title until he takes a snap and goes out and proves he’s something."
Now let’s develop a perspective here. Hall does not intend to discourage the rookie or annoy fans. Instead, he has highlighted the competitive nature of the NFC East so the rookie could prepare for a tough competition.
To start with, the division has Eli Manning representing the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants. His last season’s performance speaks of his talent and ability to secure victories at crucial moments.
The next is veteran Michael Vick who, despite not being able to perform well last season, is capable of leaving even Manning behind. Philadelphia Eagles have high hopes of him.
The third one is Tony Romo of Dallas Cowboys. Both, the quarterback and the team, are hoping to silent their critics. They have a point to prove this season and the opponents must no expect mercy from the Cowboys.
In presence of these three quarterbacks, RG3, with no experience, is certainly unable to match the standards of the pros.
And that is what Hall wants to point out. He said:
"It starts in our division, man. We ain't looking at nobody else. Our division is so tough. Great quarterbacks. ... We have to prove we can get past our division first. We get past our division and we make the playoffs, and the last couple years, we haven’t
been able to do that. That’s why we haven’t been in the playoffs.”
Some analysts even think that as far as quarterbacks are concerned, the NFC East is the most threatening division this season.
