so i have a really big cavity. it does not hurt..and isnt affected by sguar or any foods.

i thinks its too big to get filled. so i was thinking it probably has to get pulled..or maybe a root canal?

i can feel the whole thing with my tongue and it makes me nauseous just thinking about it and how i let my self be so scared of the dentist that i let my tooth rot.

will it hurt when/if i get the tooth pulled or get a root canal while he's doing it? or will it just be sore afterwards? i could deal with that. how long does it take?

also..when getting a cavity filled..what should i be able to feel and not feel? my lips always get numb and i cant close them. and then my gums feel weird..but i can usually still feel the "utensils" scraping on my tooth, is that normal? or should i not be able to feel ANYTHING AT ALL?

i really hatet he dentist. could i be hypotized into actually liking it so ill have the balls to mention it to my mother and have her make these appointments?

i feel like such a big baby. =(

if i get put to sleep..will that help with the nervousness? my mom says she doesnt like that idea..but this dentist chairs is out in the open. the rooms have see through windows and people walk by so its not like id get molested or anything. any tips to make myself fall asleep? perhaps bring an ipod so i wont hear all the drilling and such?

gahh..please help. =[

  1. it's really no big deal. either way, it barely hurts. just close your eyes, so you don't see the instruments, and listen to your ipod. a sedative is not necessary and brings risks with it so don't bother.

  2. wow. serious problems. well when i was a lot younger i had a REALLY bad cavity and they thought they were going to have to do a root canal. however thank god they didnt. i've had about 5 fillings before and none hurt like this one did. he had to give me 4 shots and gas and i could still feel it and it still hurt. it was horrible. i think its because it was so big. normally though if its just a normal cavity you shouldn't feel any kind of pain. you can usually feel them scraping around and pushing but no pain. i've heard from a lot of people that root canals hurt like a m**o. my best friend had one and didnt come to school for like a week.

  3. Just get it filled like Megan
