I play volleyball, and I love the sport. My team's really nice, and our coach is ok... but for some reason every time we have practice I really dread going. It's making me hate coming and then I don't play well which makes everything worse...is there some way I can not dread it?

  1. Think.... Why do you like volleyball? Is there a trait of something that you hate in there? Are you nervous? (SORRY.. I'm sounding accusing) Jealous? Afraid that other players might become better than you? You don't want to suffer getting yelled at?

I'm in the volleyball team, and it's preetty hard. I can't control my bumps, and can't serve as well as other players.

    Why don't you....

-> When you think negative thoughts, calm down and in through the nose, and out through the mouth, blah blah blah...

    -> Dread (dictionary.com)

    1. to fear greatly; be in extreme apprehension of: to dread death.

You fear something. What is it? Do you dread that something bad may happen? Can't keep up with studies or other things?

To fear greatly, you don't believe in yourself.

Write it all out, cry if you want, throw a tantrum (at nobody of course) and don't feel left out.

  2. You get as much out of practice as you expect to get out. You have prepare yourself mentally. "Today, I'm going to try my hardest and never complain." If you go in saying that practice sucks, and you never learn anything thats what will happen. Pledge to yourself to work like you never have before. Good Luck!

  3. If you really love the sport then go out and have fun. There should be no reason you are dreading something you love. Practice hard, have fun!

  4. well, what do you guys do in practice that you hate? do you hate serving drills, the warm ups, scrimmages, or something else? find a thing that you really hate, and then find out why.

are you bad at it? practice and get better.

is it boring? find a way to spice it up.

is it painful or uncomfortable? find what your doing wrong and fix it.

talk to your coach too. maybe he/she has some ideas to make practice better. but overall remember to have a positive attitude. it makes everything better, trust me.

    remember:

"There is no glory in practice, but without practice there can be no glory."

  5. if you really like the sport then go and have fun.  next season try and get your more of your friends into it.

  6. Well I had an old football coach who put it like this:

Practice sucks, you work hard, and hurt, and yes you are supposed to hate practice.

But come Friday night it's all worth it, because that's when you'll have the most fun.

He was right, practice sucks, but you've got to go if you want to play, and LOVE game night!

  7. well when they had us run 4 ever i thought bout my bf thats wut made me get through it...but if u dont have a bf then i dont know wut 2 tell u

  8. just remember that if you dont go to practice/participate in practic you cant play in the game

  9. You should really look inside you and see why you dread it, if your coach is OK, that might be it, you should have an awesome coach not an OK coach. Think and see why is it, maybe you need to find another team. My daughter plays volleyball and she is awesome and loves the sport she is a stater in her team, she looks forward to her practices and they work her hard really hard. I'm planning vacations for the summer and she has already told that she can't go on the cruise or to Colombia for 2 weeks because of volleyball. I want to make her go, because I feel she'll be missing out, but she does not feel that way, prefers to stay and she told me she'll go next time. So you see there is something missing, its either the team, the coach or you!!!!
