Really reduced movement?

For the last two days i've not been feeling my little girl move nearly half as much as she has been throughout the entire pregnancy. I've tried having sugary sweets, coffee, and ice cold water. Lying on my left side and a bath but still the movement remains minimal. In the weeks before now i've felt her all the time and very rarely don't feel her so this is a big change. Not only this but when i do feel her kick it tends to be a singular kick or punch which is different from how she has been moving before and the kicks and punches i do feel are far less powerful. As i said this has been my feelings for a few days so this evening i called my hospital and they have said to wait an hour and see how i feel but i have already waited two days!! they have made me feel like i am worrying about nothing and wasting their time. when i tried to explain the entire situation but they kept talking over me and now i'm considering not calling back as they have made me second guess myself. But i know my body and i know my baby (as she does have regular waking and sleeping paterns). What should i do? am i worrying about nothing? should i insist they check the heartbeat? I'm quite upset.

thanks in advance guys, and sorry for the rant.

  1. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my third child. The baby used to be really active baby in there. I know the baby has been cutting down but I do feel kicks or punches once in while. I know when I go layed down for the night the baby would be moving. Maybe the baby moving more at night when you are sleeping.

  2. you should feel 10 kicks in 24 hours at least...so if you have 3 kicks and then dont have anymore for 6 hours or so and have 4 more ur fine but you get to know your baby's movements and dont let anyone make you feel that way if you are scared and worried you go in and you demand a tracing so you know your baby is ok its better to be safe then sorry even if you feel silly after you put your mind at rest .....good luck

  3. Babies often quieten down a few weeks before the birth but If you are that worried, then go to the hospital and asked to be checked out.  Did the hospital give you a kick chart so you can actually keep an accurate record of movement?  Like you say, you know your body so go to the hospital just to be on the safe side.

  4. Yes you should get checked. i wouldn't wait any longer. It is better to be safe than sorry.

  5. I have been in your position.  But you have to think, the baby is starting to get cramped in there.  I used to have kicks all night long, and now it has slowed down a little bit.  Get it checked if you are worried though.
