  1. That's awesome !  10 lbs ! wow !  I'd love to have that boat.

I think it could carry 110 lb person

When you think of the amount of weight a boat can carry, relative to the weight of the boat itself,  if the design configuration is ok, its amazing what it can do.  Probably the weight of the boat itself isn't much of an issue as long as the material itself isn't going to burst or crack open.

What you could do, is check some websites of canoe manufacturers, (a bunch of very good ones in Canada), and check their figures for their boats.

Here is one for example from Watson Canoes

    http://www.watsoncanoes.com/models.htm

16' Prospector No Keel. Fast water here we come!  The Prospector is a great canoe for fast water, with no keel it's easy to maneuver. Recommended for advanced or eager canoeist.

    WEIGHT - 58 lbs; BEAM- 36", DEPTH - 13.5"; CAPACITY - 725 lbs.

Maybe more appropriate, check the "ULTRA LIGHT" specifications and pictures at  Langford Canoe from Muskoka region of Ontario

    http://www.langfordcanoe.com/

Maybe even more appropriate,  think of the boats the Inuit peoples made, from skins,  their kayaks.  Here is a website that might be useful, concerning Inuit guidelines for successful skin boats.   "Inuit rules for kayak design"
