  1. yes you can. I am going to study chinese. it is not hard to go. However you might have to wait a few years and finish HS. There are a lot more opportunities as a college student. i have a blog about it, www.chineseseahorse.blogspot.com

Here is my story, I wanted to learn chinese. So i went online, looked up colleges in china that are uncommon to ship american students too (why fly halfway around the world to be crammed with more americans?) Apply to the school, it was a 2 page application, all it asked for was name, age, passport# and when i want to come. 3 weeks later i was accepted. I bought a ticket and im heading to china aug 31 for 1 year of study. Overall This year is costing less than a full year of university at my local state university. I am going to Wuhan University, one of the most beautiful universties in the world and one of the best in china. It was that easy...

Check the blog, ask questions. I went to japan when i was your age. Look into yfu.org. The scholarships are to open up soon. I ddont know if it has china opportunities but there are lots of opportunity to go abroad.

  2. I've always wanted to visit China too...ever since I was little.  I just moved to/ started working here in Hong Kong two weeks ago.  I finished college first and then was able to get a job over here. I would recommend you do the same.  I know it is hard to wait, but it really is for the best.  Then your done with college and have a career and are able to get work instead of just traveling.  The place I work for even provides me with housing and periodic airfare anywhere I want. I also have enough money to enjoy my time here too.  IF you really don't want to wait, you can try getting a job as a nanny or a maid.  They have strict regulations for treating employees fairly with paid leave and housing included here.  Check it out and good luck.

  3. well, it is not uncommon for someone to REALLY want to go somewhere...that is far away. I myself have those desires! But being as you are 15, probably waiting a while would be a good thing. At least until after high school...start saving up!

  4. you should really go and add alot to your worldly experience. to prove to people that you're rich, if you are.

  5. The Semester at Sea program is amazing. I went to 12 different countries, 6 of which were Asian. It's the best study abroad program available.

  6. I wanted to go to China since I was 5 yrs old, I got there when I was 52. There are a lot of Christian church organizations doing exchange programs with students in China, it would be a wonderful experience for you !  Search for Christian organizations, youth opportunities in China, good luck

Your school might also have a student exchange program or you could start one and stay with a host family in China. I strongly urge you to try to get an exchange opportunity in Northern China.  IMO the friendliest city for foreigners to start out in is Dalian in Liaoning Province.  Its a smaller city - about 6 million and the people are very kind to foreigners

  7. wait until your graduate high school. then look for a tour of china from a travel agent or something.
