Really...what issues do Americans have with Immigrants?

Whether legal or illegal I just don't get what the big deal is.I'm sure many people just hate them for no particular reason at all.Not all of them are terrorists in fact the majority aren't.Please fill me in on this.

i work for a living, i pay my bills with my hard earned money.

i dont like the fact that my tax money that they take out of my paycheck goes to immigrants who get bigger and better tax breaks than i do.

i dont hate immigrants nor do i have a real problem with people coming to this country if they get a job, i think the gov't is more to blame than the immigrants.

In my opinion, the legal, economic, political and security issues are mostly a smoke screen. I think the hostility is rooted in a fear that the influx of Hispanics changes the cultural fabric of the US.

It is the age-old fear of those who are different.

First of all if you come here illegally you are not an immigrant, you are a law breaking illegal alien. If you go into a store and steal a candy bar, you also have broken the law. This is not rocket science, but some people are just so thick headed they just don't care... like you.

I have no problems with legals, but people like you are a major part of the problem when discussing illegals.  The majority of Americans are against illegal aliens, period.  The government needs to do as the majority has requested/demanded by securing the borders and deporting all illegals.  To heck with amnesty, its bs.

I think many Americans are afraid of change and are afraid that the immigrants are going to take over the country.. however this country is full of people from all different countries with many different cultures and flags. The biggest complaint I hear is people saying "I pay taxes and don't want them using MY tax money." Well.. illegals pay taxes too! They buy stuff at our stores, eat at our resturants, but gas and get taxes taken out of their checks every week like you and I. Also, if an illegal uses a tax ID (which a LOT of them do) they also file their taxes every year, with a very very little return. We, on the other hand, get most of our taxes returned to us each year. I think everyone should stop their complaining because for every bad thing they say about an illegal I have something good to say about them.

I like legal immigrants.  They bring skills and value to the U.S.  something like a third to a half of U.S. patents had a legal immigrant as the applicant or co-applicant.  They brings a lot of economic power to the U.S.

The legal immigrants skew market forces to help companies that break the law over companies that live by the law.  I have more of an issue with employers who hire illegals than the illegals themselves.

It's the media and the politician's fault that people hate them more then ever, and now it's not only the illegal immigrants. Violence against Hispanics whether they are legally here or not has increased significantly. The only stories they glorify are the negative ones. A good example is the Immigration Sweeps by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Phoenix. It's always headline news, but the white supremacist gang arrests aren't. It's an election year, so the Politicians tried to look like heroes stating their stand on immigration, but it's just backfiring on them (McCain). Now they are worried about the Hispanic vote.

1. We had no say in the 1965 immigration law change that placed preferences on third world countries. Or on increasing the numbers from 200,000 to 2 million a year.

America has no problem at all with immigrants. They are most welcome, if they are here legally.  The problems rests with undocumented aliens.  THEY are not immigrants.  The disdain for them is rooted in the fact that they usually do not contribute to the tax base, yet receive benefits at a disproportionate rate.

I hate the immigrants, legel or illegal, who come to this country to try to transform it into the country they came from. I live in South Florida and, in Miami, it is very rare to hear someone speaking in any language but Spanish. NEWS FLASH, WE ARE IN AMERICA! And when you don't understand what they're saying in Spanish, they look at YOU as though YOU'RE the one who should be communicating in the "correct" language. They are trying to transform Miami into an extension of Cuba, all you see are foreign flags all over the streets. If you love that country so much, then why are you here?
