Reanne Evans ousts Saqib Nasir while Allan Taylor beats Jamie Walker: World Snooker Q School, day 2
Reanne Evans and Allan Taylor have registered their first-round victories over Saqib Nasir and Jamie Walker, respectively, on the second day of World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School), at the World Snooker Academy, in Sheffield.
Reanne Evans 4-2 Saqib Nasir
The seven-time World Ladies Snooker champion, Evans, enjoyed last season’s tour by participating in qualifiers of all major ranking events of World Snooker. Though she could not win a single match but she became the only female player to play in the Men’s
circuit.
In the current tournament of Q School, Evans tried again to make to the tour but she failed in the first two events.
The 25-year-old Evans had a tremendous first event as she cruised past Sachin Plaha 4-0, Dean Venables 4-0 and Mike Hallett 4-3, to set up a fourth-round clash against Englishman, David Gilbert. She lost to him 1-4 and missed her first chance of qualifying
for the main tour. The second event was not so lucky for her either, as she crashed out in the very first round of the event at the hands of Zak Surety by the score line of 2-4.
She started her run brilliantly in the third attempt ditching Saqib Nasir 4-2 in the first round with the over-all score sheet of 74-43, 79-42 (Evans 66), 7-76, 12-117 (Nasir 71), 53-16 and 67-17 to meet the Australian, Ben Judge, in the last-64.
Allan Taylor 4-2 Jamie Walker
Englishman, Taylor, caught a strong run in the first event of Q School as he reached to the penultimate round of the event stepping over Brent Kolbeck, James Loft, and Jamie Walker. Fraser Patrick ended his hope of the tour glory, as he trashed him 4-0 in
the fourth round.
He found not a single victory in the event two at the Q School, as he faced a 2-4 defeat at the hands of Mitchell Mann.
On the other hand, his third event has started well for him as the first-round victory over Jamie Walker will definitely boost his confidence in the upcoming match against Indain, Shahbaaz Adil Khan, in the second round. The detailed frame score of the encounter
was 100-0 (Taylor 78), 72-27, 8-75, 69-81 (Walker 45), 63-51 and 63-30.
