Reanne Evans out of Qualifiers: 2011Betfred.com World Snooker Championship Qualifiers
Female snooker champion Reanne Evans has lost her battle to become the first female to play at the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship.
Evans has been winning all the World Ladies’ Championship titles since 2005 and was given a wildcard to for the 2010-11 season.
However, her hopes have been ended by the teenager, Sam Baird, who entered his professional tour for the 2009-10 season, by winning the EBSA Pro-Ticket Tour Play-Offs.
Reanne Evans has lost to Sam Baird by a frame score of 6-10 in a best-of-nineteen match in the qualifying round 1 and the overall score-line between the two was 29-71, 67-2, 72-11, 68-67, 1-100, 42-79, 59-24, 8-87, 51-79, 80-0, 38-60, 42-64, 28-71, 85-36,
7-91, and 59-66.
The frames played were a bit old fashioned as there were no centuries made by either player.
Baird took the opening frame with a prominent break of 40 before Evans bounced back to win the next three in a row making scores 3-1. However, the things were levelled as Baird won the next two in which he enjoyed breaks of 95 and 36 respectively.
Evans, playing tactically, managed in winning the seventh this time before Baird again won two straight frames to maintain his lead by 5-4. In the ninth one, Evans made her maximum match-break of 50 before Baird hit back 56.
Tenth frame was completely dominated by Evans with a couple of quick fires, 33 and 23, and Baird was not able to pot any ball.
It was all going neck to neck until then with the frame scores 5-5 but it was all a one-man show afterwards.
Baird won three frames in a row before losing a scrappy one. The scores were now 8-6 in favour of Baird and he was looking for two more frames to be in the qualifiers round 2.
In the fifteenth frame, Baird made a classy break of 90 giving Evans no chance. However, Evans in the next one did get a chance but she broke at a break of 43 bringing his opponent on the table who rolled in the final 30 to seal his victory.
Sam Baird has now gone through to the round 2 of the qualifiers where he is now going to face the Thailand’s Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon.
Stephen Rowlings on the same note has also made it to the round 2 after beating Jak Jones by a frame score of 3-10 and he is going to face Paul Davison.
