Rear License Plate lights.. 96 Forad taurus?

Question

do they exist? i was pulled over and resulted in a DUI because they were out.. but when i got the car back from the impound lot... couldnt find a single bulb... i was confused

Yes there are bulbs back there. Every modern car has "plate lights"

Yes, they do exist. I believe that the lights are located above the license plate area, under the "ledge". They might be recessed.
