Question:

Rear derailleur throwing chain off in hard gear?

last night i was getting alot of speed downhill and shifted to the hardest gear really fast. The chain came off the rear derailleur and was caught inbetween the smallest gear and the frame.

What adjustment should i make ? High? Low? counter clockwise? clockwise?

  1. Based on similar experience, also take a look at your pulley wheels. Make sure they are in good shape, that they are not worn down and are turning freely.


  2. The H s***w needs to be turned clockwise.

  3. That's a pain in the neck. Ok-

    s***w "H" in a half turn at a time with the wheel lifted. Keep checking by pushing the crank by hand to see if the chain is riding the sprocket better. The ultimate test is to ride it hard, and see. Carry a phillips head with you until you're sure it's good.
