The reason I'm a vegetarian is because I'm against the suffering of animals and also because the way they kill them. My mom is serving shrimp tonight, should I eat it? I mean the shrimp are in the ocean for there life, then just get caught and die. Please help me make up my mind! PS: Please no saying that it's only up to me to decide, I CANT!

  1. NOOOOO they are meant to be in the ocean im sure it hurts being drowned with air

  2. You should eat the shrimp. You should eat meat. That's what God put it here for. I don't like cruelty to animals either. God told people to sacrifice animals at an alter. God told people to kill and eat. Why do we feel like we know more than God?

  3. no they have to die inorder for us to eat them too

  4. It depends how serious you are about vegetarianism. To be honest, most "vegetarians" I know think it's perfectly fine to eat fish and other seafood. I don't understand that.. but it's usually accepted among vegetarians.

The fact that you had to ask this question shows that you kinda do wanna eat it, or else it wouldn't even be an issue. I say that when the shrimp is done, look at it, take in the smell, see if you want to eat it. It might not appeal to you at all then you won't have the issue... but if it looks and smells delicious, go for it! After you try it you can make a decision on whether or not to continue eating seafood.

  5. Hi Summer Luv :) - love that name btw

Well if you are a Vegetarian, I dont think you should eat them :( To me, its still like eating a cow even though its a fish or sea creature. They still had to kill something that once had a face just for someones taste buds :(

People who dont eat meat but eat fish are called Pescetarians - not vegetarians =\

    I hope I helped :)

  6. You could eat it if you really want to but you wouldn't be a vegetarian and you'd be contributing to the destruction of our oceans.

  7. If your a strict vegetarian, or Vegan, then no.  You don't eat animal products.  If your not hard core vegetarian, then go ahead.

  8. Well shrimp are STILL living creatures. They're just plentiful, so it depends on your choice. if you're a vegetarian, and you eat shrimp it means your not a vegetarian.

  9. No. If you eat seafood then you are a pescatarian (sp?)

  10. If you are against the suffering of animals than you should not eat shrimp. Shrimp are animals and even if they do live happy lives they suffer when they are killed. Shrimp have a nervous system and the potential to feel pain (unless you ask a shrimp you can never say for sure, but I like to err on the side of caution).

Anytime someone tells you that it is ok to kill something if it has a "good" life than think of this:

If a happy, mother of two is walking down the street... is it ok to kill her just because "she had a good life".

If you do decide to eat shrimp (and other seafood) than I ask you to please stop calling yourself a vegetarian. Vegetarians don't eat animals, shrimp are animals.

Good luck in making your decision and dealing with your mother :)

  11. If something like this is going to hinder your convictions - you may want to re-consider your choice to be a vegetarian.

You may not like it - but it really is up to you - and only you if you make the choice to put something in your mouth.  None here are going to come to your home to stop you from doing so.

So really consider - why did you make the choice to be a vegetarian?

  12. Shrimp have been proven to have no soul, so eat them. It is just like eating carrots or cucumbers.

  13. No you should not eat it, your not considered vegetarian if you eat something that was killed for food, which the shrimp obvsly was!

  14. no..

if your a vegetarian you dont eat anything that once had a face and moved..

i dont think you should eat it

  15. Vegetarians don't eat dead animals.  You can eat whatever you want, but eating shrimp is not vegetarian.

  16. Just because shrimp are not fuzzy and cuddly animals does not mean they don't have the right to live their life and not be suffocated and eaten by us.

Also over-fishing the ocean has caused a lot of damage.  They use sonar to spot the seafood now so they can totally clean out whole populations.

Also sea mammals are caught up in fish nets and also killed by ship motors.

I would skip the shrimp to save yourself from feeling guilty later.  Plus if you eat it you won't be a vegetarian anymore.

  17. you definitely shouldn't. even shrimp suffer.

  18. Well, maybe you shouldnt "label" yourself...because if you're labeled 'vegetarian' then you 'cant' eat certain things. Instead,  it sounds like ur making your decisions based on certain criteria that you see as suffering/cruel/not cruel, etc. So I'd take it one meal at a time...you may feel fine eating chicken that has been farm raised, free range....but not ones that go from horrible farm conditions to a KFC bucket....I believe that certain animals are fine to eat...but I dont believe in unnecessary cruelty to animals....so I choose what kinds of meat i eat, and where i comes from...think about it, and make your decision based on YOU, not what OTHER vegetarians think you should eat...
