Reason why babies cry?

Baby's cry is a way of communication- happy, hungry,tired, need sleep,want something, feel uncomfortable,sick,hurt, u name it so its up to a parent to understand the child very well.

I think the biggest reason is security...they have been in the womb for so long, they just feel insecure when they come into the world....that is why I think swaddling helps so much.

uncomfortable, gas, My daughter cried and cried and cried.. I changed her formula to something called sililac alimentum and started using Dr.Brown bottles and she was the happiest baby in the world! Gas pains are horrible...

Tired, need diaper change or tummy ache

If already fed, napped, diaper changed and you know there is no tummy ache, they are probably bored and need a change of interaction.  Maybe move them to another place or hold them differently.  I have my living room set up with a bouncy seat, swing and entertainment mat.  There are times I have to move my daughter around (who is 2 months) several times because she gets bored with what she is doing.

for any reason.  That is their only way to communicate and they don't have patience like older kids adults.  It has to be learned.

they could cry for any reason at all.

maybe they have an itch,

or they want to be held,

or want to be put down,

could be tired,

or scared,

or in need of a diaper change,

or sick,

or mabye he/she is too hot or too cold,

or maybe they cry for no reason at all,

they just feel like it.

exactly the same reasons why you cry.  baby's are just small human beings.  essentially like you, but smaller.

They can't talk.

So they cry..... it's their way of expressing themselves and telling you they need something.

So it could be any number of reasons......

Sickness (colic, stomachache, etc)

Need to be changed

Want attention

Thirsty

Pain

Want to be held

Tired

There's so many reasons.

Just thought I'd throw this in, too........ Never shake a baby when they can't stop crying.  Just place them in a safe place, like a crib and walk away if you're feeling flustered.
