I have been asked for some reasons not to travel to New Zealand besides the cost of travelling here and also the rising fuel prices - what other things can people think of as to what would deter from travelling to New Zealand

  1. Kiwi allergies.....

  2. Over priced everything here mate, go to Australia instead.  Also the crime rate in Auckland is 10 times higher than New York City!  Very violent here.  Poor roads, poor service in the restaurants and bars, no parking.  Not too mention the slack Kiwi attitude, pretty much ignorant.  Go somewhere nice for your vacation, stay away from NZ.

  3. sheep hunt in packs

  4. The NZ Dollar vs the currency rate in the country the tourist is coming from - eg if the NZD is stronger it costs more to travel in NZ.

One problem which i understand is quite valid (from people in the industry) is that many people see NZ as very easy to travel to (language, culture, etc). Therefore, they reason that they will see it when they are older and less able to  stand the intrepid trips.

  5. The travel time. If you're on a short break, the distance from here in Europe would minimize the available time to do things. Other than that, New Zealand is a place I'd love to visit.

  6. The isolation factor.  If you holiday in Europe you have a choice of tons of countries to visit and in a short space of time, if desired.

In NZ there is nothing around us.  We are islands.  The nearest places are Australia & the various South Pacific Islands.  I guess some people might think this is not good value for money.
