Reasons Why Arsenal Can Win at Old Trafford - Part 1
Manchester will host Barclays Premier League new leaders, Arsenal for a league match that could prove crucial in the Premiership title race.
At the end of the season, one side will be holding the Barclays Premier League aloft while others would be pondering what were the things that could have fetched them the Premier League’s most prestigious award. Arsenal will surely be self-reliant that they
can win the Premiership after seven years, but it is matches like these which define the psychological power of the Gunners’ team.
Arsenal are looking modest in all competitions. They should put behind the draw for the European Cup and concentrate on this match against Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Devils have been tremendously prosperous in recent past and will look to
retrieve their Barclays Premier League crown, which they lost to Chelsea last season.
Manchester United have remarkably been unbeaten in the league and will look to maintain that record against the Gunners on Monday night.
Arsenal have a few fitness problems and recently it has been reported that there are slim chances of Cesc Fabregas featuring against Manchester United. Abou Diaby and Thomas Vermaelen are both ruled out of tonight’s visit to Old Trafford.
Gael Clichy, who did not even make to bench during midweek’s Champions League match, is fully fit and along with Johan Djourou, both will be a part of Arsenal squad against Manchester United.
Here are a few reasons why Arsenal can triumph against Manchester United:
Samir Nasri - The man in form:
The young French midfield prodigy has shown the kind of constancy that very rare players have demonstrated in this campaign and he has become the most effective attacking threat for Arsenal.
Samir Nasri is good at constructing skilfully-timed slanting runs, which are enormously hard to spot. Nasri’s combination play and dribbling use have been put to good use, but more significantly, it is Nasri’s equanimity in the box which has been remarkable.
The Frenchman had an outstanding game against the Red Devils in his first season with Arsenal and scored two crucial goals for the Gunners.
Samir Nasri has always been rated as a player with incredible talent, but he is realising it in this campaign and has been the stand out player of the season for the Gunners. Samir Nasri’s extraordinary dribbling skills will present great threat to his fellow
countryman Patrick Evra, who would be given the job to keep Samir Nasri silent.
Return of Robin Van Persie:
Gunners’ most lethal striker was one of the in-form players of Arsenal last season until he was injured on International duty and was sidelined for six months. Persie’s scoring form was dearly missed by Arsenal, which eventually cost them another season
without silverware.
Although, he played for Holland in the World Cup but Van Persie was injured earlier in the season while playing against Blackburn in late September. However, this time his scoring ability was not much missed by Arsenal all thanks to the constancy of Arsene
Wenger’s summer signing, Marouane Chamakh.
Still, the 26-year-old Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie is Gunners’ most important and deadly striker and his return to complete fitness will be a huge lift for Arsenal. Also, Persie scored from the penalty during midweek’s Champions League match against
Partizan Belgrade and that goal would definitely boost his confidence.
The opposition defence will have to deal with Robin’s creativity inside the box along with the exceptional dribbling skills of Arshavin and extraordinary vision of Samir Nasri.
Arsenal possess best away record:
Arsene Wenger and his men lost to two newly promoted teams; West Bromwich Albion and Newcastle United and their fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium. However, it has not derailed the title challenge in a gigantic way because of their rivals'
inconsistency and Arsenal’s exceptional away form.
