There is many reasons, i cant answer cause you havent told me at how long but one of the causes is being highly overweight causing pressure on the baby.

The heartbeat is heard at different times for different women, you may think that sometimes there is no fetal heartbeat because of fat deposits in your belly so the ultrasound has to work harder and it sometimes depends on which way the baby is positioned in the uterus.
