  1. I think the internal effect of the salt is subtle. Sea salt or mineral salt has magnesium and potassium that can be absorbed through the skin. The theory is that an exchange takes place, removing toxins and replacing minerals. Not sure about that but it is a good theory. This is more likely to take place if the water is moving, as in a jacuzzi or whirlpool.

    For sure we know that salt kills germs. Ordinary salt has been added to baths for thousands of years, as a way to heal wounds and purify contaminated water. It also makes the skin soft. Helps heal a lot of skin conditions, including poison ivy rash and psoriasis.

  2. The minerals in the salts are separated because of the water and your skin is able to absorb them through the water. The added minerals help to nourish and soften your skin. That's most commonly why people use them, but some people also add the detox benefits because some of the minerals can help to pull the bad stuff our through your pores similar to the way sweating does.
