  1. oil

  2. Unbiased?  Are you out of your mind?  Iraq opinion is polarized.  Dems vs Reps. Libs vs Cons.

Fact is that the UN and both parties agreed at the start, and changed their minds to make political gains.

Why we went to war is no secret.

    16 UN resolutions said:

Saddam Hussein has repeatedly violated sixteen United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCRs) designed to ensure that Iraq does not pose a threat to international peace and security. In addition to these repeated violations, he has tried, over the past decade, to circumvent UN economic sanctions against Iraq, which are reflected in a number of other resolutions. As noted in the resolutions, Saddam Hussein was required to fulfill many obligations beyond the withdrawal of Iraqi forces from Kuwait. Specifically, Saddam Hussein was required to, among other things: allow international weapons inspectors to oversee the destruction of his weapons of mass destruction; not develop new weapons of mass destruction; destroy all of his ballistic missiles with a range greater than 150 kilometers; stop support for terrorism and prevent terrorist organizations from operating within Iraq; help account for missing Kuwaitis and other individuals; return stolen Kuwaiti property and bear financial liability for damage from the Gulf War; and he was required to end his repression of the Iraqi people.

Why do we stay?  To win!

  3. 1. september the 11th - and oil - apparently they were a threat to the world

    2. I would not like to say

    3. yes soldiers do kill civilian s

    4. Sometimes they have no choice - they have bombs - sometimes there are sick soldiers who do it for fun , but there are a lot of good guys in the army

    5. yes , at some point , unless the White House has a plan B

  4. Silly liberal

  5. The reason we went over there is under debate. Liberals like to say it was for oil, conservatives say it was to give Iraq a chance of democracy. Neither of those is a good reason to go to war, and the only way you will know the real reason is if you are inside Bush's mind.

As for should we be over there? I don't think we should have been in the first place, since Iraq posed no imminent danger to America. But should we be over there now? I think we should be over there now to clean up our mess.

Soldiers are responsible for civilian deaths. Not on purpose, but just as collateral damage from grenades. I know of only a few isolated cases of soldiers deliberately killing civilians, so purposeful murder of Iraqi civilians is not the norm. We do not kill them on purpose.

As for pulling out, eventually we do need to pull out. We can't stay in a country forever. If we leave Iraq immediatly, however, we open up the doors for other bad governments to come in and help the Iraqi people. Obama's biggest concern with immediate withrawl is opening the door for Iran to expand its borders into Iraq by helping them re-build their infrastructure.

You could argue that the reason we went to Iraq was to secure the oil fields there, but we did that in the first few months of our invasion 6 years ago.

  6. stay there, kill 'em all

  7. Mr. P, when are you going to Iraq to die? The sooner the better. People like you are a waste of space.
