Ok so I found a deal for a snowboard, boots, and bindings that costs $430.00 total but I only got 30 at home but I really want to get this gear before winter ends so I figure ill just take money out of my savings account but my mom says basically no way that I cant take that much out because i only got $650.00 in there right now isn't that what a savings account is for well any how what are some good reasons I could say to my mom to help persuade her into letting me take the money out of my savings to buy this snowboard gear? Big reward for whoever gives me the most reasons that are good

  1. tell her if you get you'll stick with snowboarding and not quit, its excersise (not like you need it), and its your money.

  2. Well since I'm "older" I might have an idea or two that will help. Basically you have to make it reasonable from a financial standpoint. Bottom line is that renting a snowboard, bindings, and boots is expensive. If you'll go a couple times a month and it costs $30 to rent the gear each time (depends on the resort you are going to of course), it doesn't take long to pay for the board. I've had a board that has lasted for 3 seasons and it is still a good board. So your gear can pretty much pay for itself in saved rental fees in a season. That makes the next season FREE.

Also ask her if there are some extra chores you can do around the house to earn some more $. That will let her know you are serious about getting the snowboard, and that you're willing to put forth some effort to get it.

And lastly, snowboarding is really good exercise, and you're less likely to get into trouble if you're busy in the great outdoors.

  3. tell her that its my money that i got and i can spend it on whatever i want to.

also say that youll commit to snowboard if i get this gear.

(once you get the gear make sure you go up to the mountains many times as you can, because if its just sitting there getting dusty she will never let you buy anything.)

say that ill go up to the mountains with my friends.

the rentals are about 40 bucks at the resort, and if you are going to go everyweekend its much cheaper to get the gear.

  4. Point out that financially it makes sense for you to do it if it's something that you do on a regular basis based on the amount that you'd be spending on rentals.

Try and pick up some extra jobs - around the house, maybe at a coffee shop or something, tutoring people, odd jobs - to earn some extra money to show you're serious about your interest.

You can also make the points that snowboarding is good exercise and it'll keep you out of trouble and from being bored all the time.

The only thing that I can think of to throw a wrench in the works is the cost of lift tickets.

Before you talk to your mom about it make a list of points that you want to make and be sure to be calm and not flip out at her.  Sure, it's "not fair" but if she's in charge of your savings you want to come across mature and responsible.
