Reasons why John Wall will have an explosive next NBA season with Washington Wizards – (Part 1)
When the Washington Wizards selected young point guard John Wall from the 2010 National Basketball Association Draft as first overall pick, they has expected a player, around whom they can build their franchise in the future.
The Wizards got what they had desired for.
After the close of the 2010-11 season, although the Wizards didn’t show much improvement in the Eastern Conference standings, but Wall proved to be a valuable inclusion for Washington.
Wall’s excellent scoring average of 16.4 points, 8.3 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game shows that the future of the Wizards lays with him. The rookie season campaign of the 21 year old sensation has made him one of the best upcoming
point guards in the league.
Wall definitely has the potential to make it even bigger and all he requires now is experience, which he’ll gather with every passing NBA season.
Although the team training activities have been shut down due to the lockout, but it hasn’t prevented Wall from developing his game during this offseason. Wall has been actively participation in the pick-up games throughout the
country and is working even harder in order to take his game to the next level.
For Wall to establish himself as a true quality player, it is very necessary that he should further enhance his game on both ends of the court, because it’ll complete him as a player. This will also prove vital for the Wizards,
who also want to get out of the dark hole in the next NBA season and register a place in the 2011-12 playoffs.
During Wall’s first season in the NBA, although Wall spent most of the time on the sidelines due to the injury issues, Wall did manage to make an impact later in the season. He started off with his exceptional performance in the
All-Star Weekend Rookie game. Playing in the company of some of the best young players in the league, Wall stood out and won the MVP award.
In early November, Wall recorded his first career triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists to go along with 6 steals and only 1 turnover and with it became the second rookie in the NBA history, along with Magic
Johnson, to record a triple-double with six steals in his first six games.
Wall was also named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month from January-April and in the race for the Rookie of the Year award, he finished second only to the Los Angeles Clippers prodigy, Blake Griffin.
In short, in Wall’s first season in NBA, there were some very encouraging indications which hint that he’ll have an even more successful voyage in the next season with the Wizards. Here are these five indications.
