Question:

Rebate Check - aren't I suppose to receive a "notice" before the actual check is sent?

I received a letter fromt the IRS a couple months ago notifying me that I qualify for the economic stimulus check. It stated that I would receive another notice telling me how much my check would be before the actual check is sent out. Going by the calculator on irs.gov, I should be receiving my check around the 1st or 2nd week of July, but have not received any notice of such. Can anyone tell me if they received a notice before receiving their checks, and did it tell you when your check would be sent and what the amount would be? Thanks!

  1. Yes, go to this site and click where is my check and it will tell you everything you want to know, when etc. It is safe it is the IRS.

  2. Yes, you should receive a letter before the check. My letter came 1 week AFTER my electronic deposit was made. It never stated the amount on it, only that we would receive the check

  3. Everyone I know got their letter after they got their check. The letter did however tell them how much they were supposed to recieve.

  4. The letter in March did NOT say you qualify, it said "you MAY BE eligible for a payment..."

Go to http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/ and enter your info to see if you qualify, and for how much.  If you do qualify, you will most likely get a letter a few days before you get your check.
