Well I was supposed to get my rebate check this last Friday but we moved recently and didnt have enough time to change the address with the Irs. I heard that they didnt forward the rebate checks. I dont know if that is true or not but I just thought I would go back to my old house and keep checking for my check.

Well I guess the mail man took it or something because it was never there. I went to the post office and they didnt have it.

So Im guessing it got sent back to the irs. What should I do now to get it? and how long do you think it will take me to get it?! Thanks for any information anyone can give me.

  1. First off i highly doubt the mail man took it back...you might want to try getting ahold of the IRS and having them track the check for you. TO see if it's cashed or not. Other wise.....check with the post master. HE might be able to help you some...

  2. go to irs.gov and ask.

  3. Make sure to go to the post office and file a change of address form. If you haven't receive the check and they send it back, the post office will be able to advise the IRS of the change of address. If your check hasn't been sent to you they may forward it to your new address.

  4. the mailman probaly fowarded back to the irs and the irs doesn't have your new address on file so it's considered undeliverable, you'll need to fill out a change of address form 8822 with the irs and a change of address with the post office also,it takes the irs a few weeks to process the change of address form.

call the irs and see if they got it back and see if you can just give them your new address over the phone and if not or you can't get a hold of them file that form i mentioned before with them.

    good luck!

  5. go here ....just follow the prompts the same thing happened to me they will reissue the check ..
