Rebecca Meyers of United States claimed the gold medal of Women’s 800m freestyle meet on the fifth day of the 2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships on Thursday, August 11, in Coimbra, Portugal.
Meyers displayed an unmatchable swim of 9 minutes and 16.22 seconds to claim the title of the distant freestyle race and stayed prominently away from her fellow swimmers. With her irresistible efforts, she remained almost seven seconds above the Deaf World

She was chased by Anna Tovsta of Ukraine, who remained 9.94 seconds slower than the championship record holder and reported in a second fastest time of 9 minutes and 26.16 seconds for silver medal. Similarly, Samantha Elam of United States was 14.28 seconds
behind the second position holder and ended her sprint in a time of 9 minutes and 40.44 seconds for the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Maria Kalimina of Russia emerged as the fourth fastest swimmer of the race, as she remained 3.80 seconds slower than the bronze finisher and posted a time of 9 minutes and 44.24 seconds. She was trailed by Celeste Maria Punet of Argentina, who
transpired as the fifth fastest swimmer of the event, with a timing of 9 minutes and 53.67 seconds.
Moments later, Kateryna Avramenko of Ukraine was the sixth finest swimmer to conclude her 16-lap swim, as she clocked a time of 10 minutes and 21.47 seconds. Avramenko remained in a lead of 5.50 seconds over her following swimmer, Kateryna Ivanenko, who
ended seventh in 10 minutes and 26.97 seconds. Jarmila Gupta of Germany was the last swimmer to finish her swim, as she produced a time of 10 minutes and 28.22 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, the arena was excited after the appealing efforts of all participants, while the championship will continue for two more days to complete all swimming events.
