Rebecca Soni breaks world record of Women’s 200m breaststroke – London Olympic Games
American specialist, Rebecca Soni broke the world record of Women’s 200m breaststroke on sixth day of the swimming events at the 2012 London Olympic Games in London Aquatics Centre on Thursday, August 2.
The 25-year-old Soni devastated hopes of her opponents in the distant breaststroke discipline as she shattered the world record of the discipline. With her unimaginable efforts, she stayed considerably ahead of her opponents throughout the race and occupied
gold medal of the discipline.
Her epic pace placed her significantly ahead of her opponents as she touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.59 seconds for the crown of the event.
Her commendable effort remained 1.13 seconds faster from Satomi Suzuki of Japan, who secured second position of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.72 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Iuliia Efimova of Russian Federation, who remained only 0.20 seconds apart and clinched bronze medal of the race with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.92 seconds.
Efimova was chased by Rikke Pedersen of Denmark, who stayed half body length behind her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 21.65 seconds.
Similarly, fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Martha McCabe of Canada, who stayed two body lengths apart and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 23.16 seconds.
McCabe was traced by Micah Lawrence of USA, who was just 0.11 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and produced a timing of 2 minutes and 23.27 seconds for sixth position.
The American swimmer was trailed by Suzaan van Biljon of South Africa, who was 0.45 seconds away from her preceding finisher and surfaced on the finishing blockade as seventh fastest swimmer with the timing of 2 minutes and 23.72 seconds.
The South African player stayed in a two and a half body lengths lead over Sally Foster of Australia, who touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 26.00 seconds for eighth position.
Furthermore, Soni expressed contentment over her second victory in the Olympic Games and received appreciation from the arena.
