Rebecka Palm captures Women’s 200m butterfly gold: Day three – Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Rebecka Palm of Wisconsin Aquatics captured gold medal of the Women’s 200m butterfly on final day of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 21-year-old Palm astonished her competitors by snaring gold medal of the 200m discipline. With her immaculate efforts, she elevated her pace in the final round and reached the podium for gold medal.
Palm faced tough competition from her following swimmer throughout the discipline but with her utter determination, she sprinted her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.38 seconds.
Her gold winning effort remained 0.11 seconds faster from Bailey Nero of Fort Collins Area, who snared silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 16.49 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Brooke Balogh of Lincoln Select, who was 2.10 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing blockade with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.59 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Ashley Evans of University of Arizona, who was only 0.04 seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 18.63 seconds.
Evans was followed by Abigail Chin of Cardinal Aquatics-KY, who was 0.14 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 18.77 seconds for fifth position.
The 18-year-old Chin was trailed by Meredith King of Unattached-NU, who proved her eligibility for sixth position of the event by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 19.06 seconds.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Hannah Kastigar of Aberdeen Swim Club, who remained 1.09 seconds behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.15 seconds.
Kastigar was chased by Ariana Bullard of Carmel Swim Club, who finished eighth in the event by posting a time of 2 minutes and 23.12 seconds.
Furthermore, the crowd appreciated notable efforts of all participants while the winners received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution of the tournament. In addition, the championship came to an end after the completion
of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner.
