Rebel Magic aiming to score for trainer Richard Hannon in the Adnams Bitter Fillies’ Nursery
The Class 2 Adnams Bitter Fillies’ Nursery has attracted a massive lineup of 20 runners to run over a distance of six furlongs at Newmarket on 4th August, 2012, for £25,876.
Trained by Richard Hannon, Rebel Magic will be raised by 3 pounds, which is a little harsh on the runner, but her good form might help her even things out on the track.
Today, she will be paired with rider Sean Levey, and together they will aim to take the second victory of her career.
The daughter of Cockney Rebel, foaled by mare Aastral Magic, broke her maiden in the Oakley Green Conservatories Maiden Auction Stakes at Bath over the distance of five furlongs.
With jockey Kieran O’Neill on her back, she claimed the victory by a short-head over the Charles Hills trained, Lucky Beggar, who raced as favourite.
The bay filly’s next start took place at the same track, as she competed in the British Stallion Studs / Brandon Trust E B F Novice Stakes over five furlongs on 16th June, 2012, where she raced as a favourite and lost the victory
to, Bridge Night, by ¾ of a length.
The juvenile tackled a larger distance of seven furlongs when she ran in the Kelly Group Fillies’ Nursery at Ascot on 28th July, 2012, and finished as a runner-up.
Running at six furlongs should not be a problem for the Green Pastures Farm owned runner, since she has competed and delivered a solid finish at a slightly larger distance.
Competing against Rebel Magic is The Gold Cheongsam, who is currently under the wing of trainer, Jeremy Noseda.
Foaled by Desert Sun mare, Fuerta Ventura, the filly finished third in her maiden at Goodwood, when she competed in the E B F Anthony Simmons Maiden Stakes (Sponsored By Telecom UK) over six furlongs.
The daughter of Red Clubs toned up in her most recent start at Newmarket when she ran as a favourite in the Audi Cambridge Median Auction Maiden Stakes, also over the distance of six furlongs.
The familiarity with the distance will give her an advantage over other runners, and chances are that she will excel. It will be a tough battle between the two runners and it could go either way. That being said, Rebel Magic has a better shot at winning.
