Rebelious nine year old,

Question

He is resentful about dental appointments and taking shots. Threatens to "get even" and days or weeks later he does somehing very anti soial then says "I told you what would happen if you let them stick needles in me" Once he told a doctor "if i ever get a chance I will kill you for that". Strangely enough this kid is ordinarly well behaved and brings good report cards even though he is somewhat of a loner.

You should get him some mental therapy, stable kids don't usually say things like that. If he doesn't get help for whats bothering him, it could get really bad down the road. It can't hurt to get him evaluated.

Uh, wow. You need to get a psych evaluation on that kid; use a hidden camera the next time you take him to get his shots or have his teeth checked, and keep the tape going until he 'gets even.' Show this to the psychiatrist, just in case he acts like a little angel while in his appointments. Also, the next time he threatens, tell him the same thing. When he finally has his revenge, do something that he doesn't like, such as take away something, ground him, spank him, etc. Then just say "I told you that would happen if you did this," or "I warned you not to threaten." Eventually, he'll get it.

tell him to BEHAVE and be greatful he is able to go to places like the dentist and doctor. other children are unable to go to places like that and he should be hes disease free and has teeth.

He's gonna kill you in your sleep, naw. It's just that stage I guess? I mean I'd be pretty mad at my mom or dad if they let a strange man put something sharp in me, did you explain to him that it would help him? Try this: Son, if you do not take shots, you will die" that should work!

Wow, at nine years old he understands what he is saying. Those are some strong words. Have you explained to him the reasoning behind immunizations and dental appt.? Is it the pain that he experiences that makes him so upset or it the invasion of his body? I would have a serious talk about the words that come out of his mouth. Have him research the immunization that he is getting so he understands the importance of it. For the dentist I would request that they give him Versaid - it is a medication that he has to swallow - it will knock him out and therefore will not feel the pain.

This isn't healthy behavior. If he is ordinarily well behaved and brings home good report cards, but has a little problem with carefully planned revenge and death threats?? It will only get worse as he gets older. Please get him help for his sake and yours. Good luck

I have a son who's almost 9 and if I ever heard him say something like that I'd have a long talk with him about how to speak properly to adults and that it is not okay to joke about death or killing.  You have to let him know that that sort of talk will not be tolerated.

Well alot of kids can be rebellious at that age...I didn't really see anything wrong with it, until I saw the death threat.

I think you need to let him now what is acceptable. and what isn't.

Obviously this child has issues I find it interesting that there is no mention that a doctor he has threatened hasn't suggested therapy.

wel  dont be  mad  but  im  nine  i hate  shots  but  wat  did  he  do  thats  bad  my  mom  would  slap me  really  hard  infaact  i  got  shot  the  other  day
