If you rebuild your engine (for an audi s4)

A) how much would it cost

B) does it make the actual life of the engine last longer?

  1. What year S4?  If a 00' -02' it's a B5 model with the 2.7 biturbo engine.  Those are real strong motors and usually the problem is turbo failure, not motor.  Are you sure the problem is the motor?  Lots of people (myself included) have changed their original blown K03 turbos for the more reliable K04.  Expect to pay around $2,500 for new K04 turbos and about $1,000 for labor (you MUST remove the engine to change turbos) plus additional parts required like inlet pipes for the K04's ($700), gaskets, o-rings kit for the turbo connections ($150).

    I have never rebuild my engine per se, but imagine it  could be as costly as a turbo replacement (Audi parts are expensive, mkay?)

    And yes, after a properly executed rebuild your engine will last a lot longer.  I've seen unrebuild engines with over 170,000 miles so a rebuild will probably add over 100,000 more miles easily.
